![]() PRODUCTION All Cataract® shafts, blades and components are produced in Advanced Composites, Inc.'s brand new, 26,000 square foot facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. The new building is home to our unrivaled filament winding process, engineering and design, as well as final assembly. Advanced Composites developed and started manufacturing oars in 1983 for western river guides. Two years later, in 1985, the brand was founded and today Cataract Oars are used throughout the world by boaters of all types. FILAMENT WINDING Cataract's highly-automated filament winding process is key to making the strongest, most responsive oars in the industry. Each oar shaft is precisely wound with continuous strands of carbon and glass fiber in an epoxy resin matrix. Every oar shaft produced is consistently top quality. Cataract® continually tests all products to ensure only first-rate quality product ships from our factory. FINISHING All Cataract® shafts are processed and clear coated in 24' lengths. A durable, toughened urethane system, custom made to our requirements, is then applied twice. These applications fully seal the composite materials and provide an appealing, clear, hard surface. Keeping the oars clean and covered while not in use protects the shaft from overexposure to UV rays and minimizes deterioration of the oar's finish. CUSTOMIZATION Cataract® shafts and blades can be customized to meet any requirements. Lengths, rope wraps, handle types and counterbalancing can be modified during final assembly to provide the exact design properties needed by savvy and demanding boaters. Cataract® Oars are PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA |
